420 refers to both the date April 20th and the time 4:20pm. Both the time and date are internationally known as the time/date to blaze!

420 originated in a San Francisco high school in the early 70s. A group of kids, known as the 'Waldos', would meet at the Louis Pasture statue to blaze at approximately 4:20pm every day. They coined the term "420" because they could use it without the teachers knowing what they meant.

Common brands include Roor and Magic Glass.

Bowl

The part of a pipe or bong that is filled with marijuana to be smoked.

Brownies

Traditionally, when marijuana was eaten, cannabutter (butter heated with marijuana) was used to make brownies.

Buds

The part of the marijuana plant that contains enough THC to get you high! It is the part of the marijuana plant that is smoked.

To hot box (see definition of 'hot box') a bathroom with the shower on. The steam from the shower helps the marijuana smoke stay in the air longer getting the smoker even higher.

Hemp

Stalks and stems from the marijuana plant. It can be used to create rope, clothes and a variety of other useful materials.

Hermaphrodite

A self-seeding marijuana plant with both male and female characteristics. More commonly, a hermaphrodite refers to a female marijuana plant that develops seed pods.

Hit

To take a puff of marijuana smoke. In the case of a vaporizer, to take a hit would be to take a puff of marijuana 'goodness'

Hookah

An Indian smoking pipe, traditionally used with tobacco.

Similar to a bong, the herb is heated at the top of the hookah with a smokeless coal and then the heat from the coal is sucked down the hookah, through water and a hose back to the person using the hookah.

The water of the hookah helps to remove tar from the smoke.
Can also be used for smoking marijuana by mixing the marijuana with the shisha, flavoured tobacco.

The offspring of parental plants of different breeds

Indica

A strain of marijuana that generally causes smokers to experience a body high. They are often used to relieve stress and insomnia and are smoked later in the evening.

A term for a roach holder made from a matchbox cover. It was commonly used in the 1940s and 1950s.
