Vansterdam Clothing is about more than just marijuana.  We believe that many important issues are being ignored by politicians and instead exploited by corporations for financial gain.  One such issue is the slaughter of more than 20, 000 dolphins every year in Japan.

The dolphins are herded into a cove in Taiji, Japan starting in September of each year where the most beautiful dolphins are captured to be sold to corporations like Sea World for hundreds of thousands of dollars.  All of the other dolphins that enter the cove are then butchered to death. Unfortunately, dolphin meat is toxic to humans because of high mercury levels in their blood (another result of our mistreatment of the world’s oceans) meaning that over 20,000 dolphins are being killed for no reason at all.  Well, not quite… The fishermen claim they are performing population control on the dolphins so that they do not eat all of the fish.  Is that not called genocide?

Alex Bilodeau has won Canada’s first gold medal of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics and Canada’s first gold medal on home soil in Canadian history!

In a very competitive event, men’s moguls, Alex stole the show by upsetting the Australian Dale Begg-Smith, a former Vancouverite, to take the top spot.  Two other Canadians, Vincent Marquis, and Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau, finished fourth and fifth respectively.

This is a proud moment for all of Canada.  Congratulations Alex!
